【题目】The Benchmark of Optical Precision: Frequency combs, ultrastable lasers, and clocks for science and industry
【摘要】Optical clocks, ultracold atoms, and quantum optics experiments demand tools that offer extreme stability, precision, and reliability. Optical frequency combs have become central to this progress, enabling coherent links between optical and microwave domains, high-precision spectroscopy, and state-of-the-art time and frequency dissemination. In this presentation, Menlo Systems will showcase the latest developments in frequency comb technology tailored to the needs of quantum science and optical metrology. We will detail advancements in ultra-low-noise combs for optical clock operation, high-accuracy time-frequency transfer over fiber, and synchronization solutions. Applications include remote clock comparison, and integration with ultracold atom platforms for fundamental physics tests. Through real-world implementations and collaborations, we demonstrate how Menlo’s technologies are enabling the next generation of quantum-enabled experiments and precision measurements.
【报告人简介】Dr. Michael Mei is co-founder and Managing Director of Menlo Systems GmbH. He received his Master’s in Science from the University of Massachusetts, USA, and his Diploma from the University of Konstanz, Germany. After a one-year research stay at ETH Zurich he joined the group of Prof. Theodor H?nsch at Ludwig-Maximilians University and the Max-Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics in Munich for his PhD, focusing on atom interferometry and precision measurements. In 2001 he founded Menlo Systems together with Dr. Ronald Holzwarth and Prof. H?nsch, with the vision to commercialize optical frequency comb technology. Menlo has since grown to over 215 employees, with locations in Germany, USA, China, and Japan. He additionally serves as the Speaker of the Advisory Board of terraplasma GmbH, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Quantum Life Long Learning project of the Munich universities.
